Set up Paystack
Accept cards, transfers and USSD at checkout with Paystack. Let Crate manage it for you, or bring your own keys — and choose who covers the fee.
Paystack is Nigeria's leading payment gateway — it lets buyers pay you with cards, bank transfer, USSD and more, from anywhere. Turning it on in Crate means your storefront can take card payments instantly.
Crate gives you two ways to run it. Crate-managed is the quickest: customers pay through Crate's Paystack account and your money is split to your bank automatically, for a small per-transaction fee. Prefer to keep your own Paystack relationship? Switch to Use my own Paystack account and paste your keys — see Use your own Paystack keys.
Before you start
For Crate-managed mode, add your bank account under Settings → Payments → Bank account first. That's how Crate knows where to settle your share of each sale — without it, the page will prompt you to finish setup.
Tip: The fee toggle is independent of which mode you're in. Absorb the fee for a cleaner price, or pass it on so the customer covers it at checkout — whichever suits your margins.
After you turn it on
Paystack appears as a payment option at checkout straight away. In Crate-managed mode each successful payment is split to your bank in real time, so there's nothing else to reconcile. Watch your first few orders to confirm the flow end to end, then you're set.
